Reputation.
Talent.
Consistency.

One 10-point editorial measure applied across every salon on the list. Cut, colour, finish, service, room, consistency, value, returnability. The same rubric for the AHFA-pedigree CBD flagship and the inner-north editorial bench. A score is only published once an editor has been in the chair.

, Inside the list,

“Hair is the category Glow editors get asked about most. We started here.” GLOW Editorial Team

Every room on the list has been visited. Editors book a consultation, sit through a wash, watch a cut land. If we wouldn’t send a friend, it doesn’t publish.

Reviews aren’t solicited from the salon. There is no media-kit cut-through, no PR back-channel. Scoring is editorial, defended in writing, reviewed annually, dated transparently.

Salons cannot pay to appear and cannot pay to move. The directory is independent of advertising. The standard is the only filter.

, Frequently asked,

Quietly answered.

How does GLOW score hair salons?
One 10-point editorial rubric measuring cut, colour, finish, service, room and consistency. Editors book a consultation and sit in-chair before a score is published. Full methodology is at /salons/standard/.
Can salons pay to be listed?
No. Salons cannot pay to appear on the list and cannot pay to influence a score. The directory is independent of advertising, read the full disclosure at /disclosures/.
Which Melbourne salon should I start with?
For premium cut-and-colour, Joey Scandizzo Salon (9.4). For lived-in editorial colour, Rokk Ebony (9.3). For heritage CBD continuity, Rakis on Collins (9.3, since 1983). Full Melbourne shortlist at /salons/hair/melbourne/.
When do other cities go live?
Sydney and Brisbane publish first, followed by Perth, Adelaide and the Gold Coast through 2026. Byron Bay and Canberra are the final two. Editors are actively in-chair across all seven curating markets, new rooms land weekly.
How do I submit a salon for review?
Email team@glow.com.au with the salon name, suburb and a one-line case for inclusion. Editors visit every salon before it appears on the list, please don’t send a press kit.
